Due date comes ... and goes

As you know, today was Ruby's due date. I say "was" because, at 11:02 pm, I feel I can make a safe assumption that she won't be arriving tonight. And this is despite our best efforts.

We had previously tried talking nice and explaining to her the awesomeness that awaits her here in our family, but clearly that hasn't worked.

So we decided to bribe her with cookies.

We'll report back on whether this was successful.

39 weeks, 6 days

"Is she here yet?"

Nope. Not yet.

My boss had a hypothesis on why: "If you were in a temperature-controlled waterbed being fed all the time, would you want to go anywhere?"

Good point.

The Big Reveal

Ruby's nursery has been a work in progress for several months. Last week, Gigi came to help me get organized and get the baby's room ready for her arrival. I say that Gigi "helped" me, but I pretty much sat in my chair while Gigi did all the work.

It's not quite done, but it's already more fabulous than I ever could have imagined. Thank you to Gigi and Poppa for the furniture and window treatments. Thank you to David for all of your hard work painting and lacquering the dresser, putting together the bookcase, installing the closet doors and organizer, and about a thousand other little projects.

A few more pics with some of my favorite details:

A close up of the crib (which was mine) and the stylish bedding handmade by Gigi.

Most of the items on this shelf were gifts from Gigi, including her ballerina from when she was a little girl.

The bookcase with Ruby's growing collection of books, toys and randomness.

Ruby's going to be so smart, just like her mom and dad.

A closet so full of beautiful clothes that it might actually rival Aunt Lo's.

My favorite little corner of the room- David's growth chart from his nursery, my sling, the diaper bag, and the awesome chandelier night light.

And of course, a little longhorn touch to the nursery.

Thanks for looking!

9 days, give or take

I say give or take because, let's face it, Ruby's coming whenever she's ready, regardless of the official due date. But, yes, we're now officially in single digits.

We had a doctor's appointment yesterday, and everything looks good. We're just in a holding pattern from here on out.

An update without an update

We're 11 days out from Ruby's official due date.

Emilia's still plugging along like the brave woman that she is, although I think she passed the ready-to-get-Ruby-out mark about a week and a half ago. Ruby, on the other hand, seems content on staying in the warm womb while punching Emilia's ribs every hour or two.

Gigi was here for the past week, helping us to get the nursery finalized, clothes washed, and the house cleaned. She's been a great help, and Ruby's room looks gorgeous. We'll have pictures up soon.

We'll keep y'all updated.

When will Ruby arrive?

And how big will she be?

On September 25, we had family and friends guess Ruby's birthday, weight, and length. At $3 per entry, the winner will be lucky enough to purchase something special for Ruby. Here are the entries in no particular order:
