Cutest.Baby.Ever

We went to Murchison Hill this afternoon to take some bluebonnet shots of Rubina. While the lighting wasn't ideal, David was able to get some super cute pictures. I'm so happy she was giggling for her photoshoot. Until today, I felt like we hadn't been able to catch pictures of her with a big, silly grin and chubby baby cheeks. Some favorites from the shoot, because I can't pick just one...

Ruby's First Non-Boob Food

Ruby had a well-check at the pediatrician today, and she got a gold star and an A+. She was also weighed and measured, showing up at 15 lb 0.5 oz and 25 7/8" - 83rd and 95th percentiles, respectively.

The doc also told us that we should start introducing non-boob food, starting with some rice cereal. We did this evening, and Ruby loved it.

Fuzzi Bunz!

We finally have our cloth diaper baby, ladies and gentleman! Gigi was able to find a great deal on the Fuzzi Bunz diapers I've been wanting. Thanks to the Geeg and her friends, we have the first half of the order in our possession. Mar at Diaperlicious introduced us to the best diaper detergent ever and all of the diapers have all been pre-washed in monkey fart scented Crunchy Clean. Ruby just got her bath for the day and we're officially in business. I felt slightly sad when putting the diaper on her, as it will never be so beautiful and clean again. But they sure do look sweet on Rubina's cute little baby butt. I wish I had something so soft to wear on my butt all day long; I bet it's heavenly.

Gigi and Rubina

I haven't taken a pic of Ruby all week. Gigi, however, had me snap a cute one of her with Rubina when we visited Houston last week. She emailed it to me today and I had to post it. What cuties!

Ruby Art

I recently used what art ability I have stored deep inside my statute- and legislative-riddled brain and came up with the following goodies for Ruby's room:

My fingerprint, after some Photoshop wizardry.

Emilia's fingerprint.

A print with Ruby's birth info. I tried to create one with her fingerprint, but her prints aren't well-developed enough to give me anything to work with. The three are now hanging above her crib.

Top of the Mornin' to Ya

Ruby and I hit the town this afternoon for her first St. Patrick's Day. We met friends Taryne and D for lunch at Fiddler's Hearth. I had fish and chips while Ruby enjoyed milk (she might be ready for her first Guinness by next year) and we listened to some Irish tunes. The nice lady across the table from us even held Ruby so I could eat. The Irish are such a friendly group. After lunch, we walked around Lady Bird Lake and watched all the rowers on the water.
Not the best picture, but Ruby's first trip to a pub has to be documented properly :)

Then, Ruby and I ran some errands around town so Ruby could get the most out of her St. Patty's Day attire. Gigi bought her a very festive St. Patrick's Day onesie to wear today- Pop-Pop, Uncle John and Uncle Michael would be proud of their little Irish lassie. The day ended with a photoshoot in the lavender in the front yard. She looks so darn cute in the pictures that I'm going to post all three.

Birthing from Within Reunion

Our childbirth class had a reunion at our house yesterday afternoon. All six families and the instructor were planning to attend, but as is the case with new babies, not everyone was able to make it in the end. The three families and doula that did make it, however, had a great time.
I've included two pics, as I thought Willa looked cuter in one and Ari looked cuter in the other. Because I am her mother, I of course, think Ruby looks perfect in both pictures :)

Sweet Pics from Today

We went to the Capitol with David today so we could get out of the house and he could get some extra work done. Ruby and I walked around in the BOB inside and outside of the Capitol while David made the most of a quiet, empty office. When Ruby and I got back into the office, I realized that the overhead fluorescent lights and Ruby's white blanket made for a nice photo-op. She's such a sweet baby girl.

Mommy and Her Little Book Worm

I've been trying to read more with Ruby, but will admit that I don't find the time to do so every day. When I do read to her, however, I always grab "The Very Hungry Caterpillar." Ruby actually has two copies of the book- a big one for her nursery, and a little one that I carry in the diaper bag. If a three month old could have a favorite book, this would be it. I am amazed at how she concentrates so intensely on the pictures and is completely silent the whole time I'm reading. And just today, she started to reach for the pages as we go.

In other book related news...I finished my first non-baby book since having Ruby! I am very proud of myself, as it is not easy to find time to read when taking care of a three-month old and trying to keep the house tidy. Finishing a book was important to me, as I don't want to become a mother who only reads baby-related books and can only talk about baby-related topics. Unfortunately, I would only give the book three out of five stars, as it was only mindless girly fiction. I was so excited about my accomplishment though that I'm already on book two. I just hope I can finish it before book club in a few weeks, it's loooong.

Gramma and Grandpa Come a Visitin'

This past weekend Grandma and Grandpa drove down from Tulsa to visit their favorite granddaughter, Ms. Ruby Albina. As one could expect, Ruby got more than her fair share of attention - but that's the grandparents' job, after all.

While here, we ate at Shady Grove and Salt Lick, took a few nice walks, and watched UT and Oklahoma State play (and lose, unfortunately).

A few pictures to share:

Thank y'all for a wonderful weekend!

Mommy Drool

Ruby has had a rough week with lots of wiggly sleeping. I've tried everything to get her to stop wiggling in her sleep but the only thing that works sometimes is me wrapping her in a cozy swaddle and holding her in my arms while we sleep. This morning, my little monkey was wiggling all over the place, so I wrapped her up and we went back to sleep for a few hours. I woke up with a strange wet feeling on my face. I looked down and realized that I had drooled all over Ruby's head. She now has a sweet little curl plastered on her forehead because of my sticky drool.

Lady Bird Lake

I can see why David was so jealous being stuck in the office yesterday. It was gorgeous outside and Ruby and I enjoyed being out and about for several hours. This was our view while breastfeeding yesterday on the Lamar Bridge at Lady Bird Lake. Actually, it was more MY view. Ruby's view wouldn't be appropriate to post on a family blog.

Jealousy

So I'm stuck in the office with about 5,000 things to do, and Emilia sends me the picture below:

She and Ruby are walking around Lady Bird Lake. I'm very jealous.

Baba and his Babies

Babaganoush came into town last night to see "his baby" and "his baby's baby." His trip was short and sweet, but lots of fun. We hung out at home last night, then got up today for a ride in the country and lunch at a pie shop in downtown Kyle. Ruby wore her preppiest outfit for the occasion and loved getting some extra alone time with her grandpop. Thanks for a great little trip, Baba. We love you.

Happy Three Month Birthday, Rubina!
