Nine Months!

Ruby, you have now been outside my belly for as long as you were inside of it. I must say that I have enjoyed these last nine months much more than the previous nine. You are at such a fun age now, exploring your world and making friends with everyone you meet. It is a pleasure to be your mommy. Happy Nine Month Birthday!

One year later...

and David is still rockin' the whiteness.

Third Coast

We took a mini-vacation last weekend to Galveston with Gigi and Baba. The highlight of the trip was definitely our time on the beach, as Ruby loved playing in the sand and crawling in the waves. We also had a delicious dinner at Gumbo Bar, and David and I were able to squeeze in a fabulous movie while Ruby hung out with the grandparents.
Some pictures from the trip:

Why hello. Fancy meeting you here.

The following pictures are technically from our weekend in Galveston, but they make me laugh so hard that I feel they deserve a post all their own. While David and I were on a movie date Saturday afternoon, Ruby hung out with Gigi and Baba in the condo. In true Gigi fashion, Geeg dolled Ruby up with curlers in her hair as they played in the living room. When Ruby saw the baby in her mirror, she was in love. Gigi grabbed the camera while Ruby proceeded to flirt with the beautiful blonde hair, blue-eyed baby she saw watching her.

Beach Blanket Ruby, Sneak Peek

We got home about an hour ago from our weekend at the beach with Gigi and Baba. I'll be doing a full post during Ruby's nap tomorrow, but I wanted to share an image tonight for Gigi and Baba to enjoy. Thanks for a great weekend!

Ruby Baby

My friend, Amy, told me about a song she heard that she thought Ruby might enjoy.

And another version I found on YouTube that I thought Ruby's daddy might enjoy.

Rubina's Playroom

Emilia and I spent the weekend turning what was a little used office into a baby-proofed playroom for Ruby. It's not finalized yet, but here a few pics:

Clap On, Clap Off, The Clapper

Ruby is obsessed with clapping. It's actually quite cute as I watch her clapping right now. It was not nearly as cute at 12:45 this morning when she would stand in her crib, clapping and refusing to go back to sleep. It was even less cute at 2:30 this morning when we were still up and still clapping. Here's an action shot from my camera this morning:

Some other cute things she's doing these days: waving hello and goodbye, standing by herself for longer and longer periods of time, amazing us with her ability to function on so little sleep, walking the dining room chairs across the kitchen and living room, turning the pages in books, and perfecting the flirty head tilt.

Edit: I snapped this photo a few minutes ago and immediately emailed it to David while I wrote my post. Before I could finish my text, however, David had posted the picture on the blog himself. I made him take it down, as I explained that the parent who stays up all night with the clapping gets the glory. Ruby's so lucky to have two parents who are arguing about who gets to post cute pictures of her.

Four years ago today...

we were just babies.

Now we have a baby of our own. Best four years of my life.

Edit by David: I completely agree.

The Very Talented Ms. Danielson

Ruby and Daddy had their own private photoshoot at the pool this weekend while Mommy was doing a visit for work. Our good friend and favorite family photographer, Meaghan, took these beautiful pics of Ruby and her daddy on Saturday afternoon. I wish I had room to post the whole album here, but instead I'm just posting some favorites. Thanks, Meaghan, for all the wonderful shots of my melanin-challenged cuties.

Thinking about getting Ruby a stuffed animal for her birthday?

You might want to rethink that.

Since taking this photo an hour ago, we have found four more stuffed animals.

We Miss Them Already

Ruby, David and I had a great time with Aunt Lo and Uncle Jacob this week. Some highlights from their trip include Hamilton Pool, Trudy's for drinks with friends, toobing on the Comal River, Ruby's first shopping spree with her personal shopper and lots of Scrabble. It was great to have such a casual, relaxing five days with them here in Texas. David and I tried our best to convince them to move back to Austin right away, but I think we'll have to wait awhile for that still. We love y'all and can't wait to see you again in six weeks!

Since we were too busy eating all week, we didn't take many pictures. This one, however, is my new favorite of Aunt Lo and Ruby. Aunt Lauren is a natural with the mei tai- Ruby loved getting cozy with her favorite aunt during our shopping trip.

Look Who's Standing...

Ruby has technically been standing on her own for about three weeks now, but I'm never able to catch a picture...until today!

Baby's First Barbecue

Aunt Lolly and Uncle Jacob are in town for the week and we've been having such a great time that we haven't taken many photos. We took a day trip to Luling today and took some family snapshots during lunch. Jacob's parents drove in from Houston to meet us at a local barbecue restaurant for some delicious brisket, ribs, and sausage. Ruby was in a great mood, getting some grandmom love from Miss DeDe and flirting with Mr. Jerry. She also had her first taste of brisket and loved it!

Uncle Jacob is serious about his sausage.
