The nursery is ready

Now we await the baby.

When starting the nursery for Beatrice, I wanted to make it different from her big sister's nursery, but still use all the same furniture that we had with Ruby.  The crib is mine from 1981 and the changing table is actually an old dresser with a new coat of paint and knobs from Anthropologie. My parents gave Beatrice the beautiful Land of Nod dress bedding, and I used that as my starting point for inspiration. I wanted the room to have a girly, vintage feel.

The view as you walk into the room.

A nice shot of the blue walls that David spent the better part of an entire three day weekend painting.  Also a good view of the vintage dresses that were my mom's in the 1950's, hanging on a clothesline with mini clothespins.  The "gallery wall" on the left is a DIY project that includes repainted frames from Goodwill, a valentine that Bea's great-grandfather gave her great-grandmother, and some artistic creations by David.

A wrapped canvas of baby Ruby hangs above the changing table now, but we hope to replace that very soon with a newborn canvas of Beatrice Lolly.  Please note that David also painted the closet door- not an easy task, but it looks fabulous.

My mother found this fabulous little bookcase at an estate sale in Austin.  It was handmade in the 1940's and works perfectly in this little back corner.  The mirror that hangs above the bookcase was one of my Goodwill finds that just needed a heavy-duty cleaning to look brand new.

More estate sale finds, this pink mid-century lamp and a butter pat plate to use as my coaster during late night feedings. I wish I knew more about the lamp, as I absolutely love it and actually bought two for when the girls share a bedroom in a few years. We plan to rewire the lamps and find new matching shades.

The mobile hanging above the chair is a gift from my good friend and style guru, V. The yellow dress was my coming home outfit and will be Beatrice's outfit as well, if she ever decides to make her grand appearance.
