My Heart is Breaking

I had a baby last week, or at least it feels like last week. She's still sweet and cuddly, sleeps right up next to me in bed, and nurses about twenty times a day. There is no way she is almost six months old. And there is definitely no way that I was folding clothes in her room this afternoon and turned around to see this:

Yes, that is my tiny baby pulling herself up to a standing position on the side of the crib. I have no idea who taught her such nonsense, but my immediate reaction was to knock her down and pretend it didn't happen. There is a reason I don't like my girls in cribs when they're babies- they go and pull stuff like this and break their momma's heart.

My Funny Valentines

I'm going to try to start writing more posts with stories about the girls and our daily life.  We love sharing pictures with friends and family; but I try to use the blog as a diary of sorts, and I want to remember all the cute things that they say and do.

I just couldn't resist sharing these photos from last week though. I was trying to get cute pictures of the girls for the valentines. I don't mean to brag, but I totally got the perfect shots of both of my sweet girls.  Some highlights from our mini photo shoots:

How Ruby says I love you

This is how Ruby greets Bea after four days in Houston: a choke-hold kiss.

Sister Love

Ruby is in Houston for a few days playing with Gigi and Baba and recovering from a pretty miserable cold. We are in Austin, also with colds, but trying to enjoy the extra cuddles from baby Bebe. Gigi showed Ruby the picture of her little sister on the blog last night, and Ruby asked to write Beatrice a note:
I love you and I hope you smile right now when we get home to my house.
When you get bigger you can come with me to Gigi's house to eat snacks, and sleep and eat breakfast.
We will go to Gringo's for chicken, rice and ice cream.
I'll see you soon.

I love that so much of the note is about food. But more importantly, I love that my girls already have a special bond. When we found out we were having another baby girl, my greatest hope for them was that they would grow up to be best friends. I know it's early, but the sweet words from Ruby give me hope that they are already on their way :)
