Bump picture #2

A bump picture that David took today. It's amazing how fast my belly has grown in just three weeks.

Please note that this picture was taken with David's iPhone - he is going to be the coolest dad.

Crib Bedding, FINALLY!

After many hours of searching and obsessing, I have finally decided on colors and bedding for the nursery. As I suspected, I wasn't able to find anything I liked in the baby stores, so my mother and I made a trip to High Fashion Fabrics this weekend to see the Amy Butler fabrics. The trip was a huge success. The two main fabric choices are shown below:

Ruby will be the lucky recipient of beautiful, feminine, yet modern crib bedding made by GiGi. The brown floral and pink martini fabrics will be used to make the crib bumpers, dust ruffle and possibly the window coverings. The walls will be a lovely shade of green, chosen by Ruby's expert designer, Miss Susan. I'm sure I'll have lots of nursery updates and pictures as the room progresses.

Happy Birthday GiGi!

We had a great weekend in Houston celebrating my mother's birthday. David and I love the Guerin Resort, as all we do is swim in the pool while my parents take care of the dogs and prepare our meals and drinks. Stella and Stanley love it because they get to eat lots of treats and love on their GiGi. It's a lovely way to spend the weekend. Here's a pic of the birthday girl and the pregnant girl before our Saturday shopping trip.

Meet Ruby

Click the picture below to get your (and our) first glimpse of RAE.

To orient you, her head is on the right in all of the images - except for the bottom left and top right pics, where her head isn't in the picture. Instead, what you get in those pictures is proof that she's a she. The two lines next to "GIRL" are, indeed, her va-jay-jay. Emilia found it odd that I thought to ask the technician that without prompting. But I was right. So there.

Why hello there

Welcome to Ruby Albina's official place on the world wide interwebz. This blog will be updated (semi-)regularly with photos, stories, and other interesting tidbits about the much-anticipated debut of Ms. Ruby.

We gave the blog such a unique URL so that she herself can continue to use it in the future: complete with highlights of her perfect 2400 SAT score at a mere eight years old, discovery that Pluto is indeed a planet, and eventual national championship as the quarterback for the University of Texas Longhorns. She'll be a groundbreaking young woman.

For now, we'll start it off with a picture of momma and RAE at 20 weeks, posing beautifully in front of a brown wall.
