We Don't Like Ike

Hurricane Ike threw a Texas-sized monkey wrench into countless people's plans this weekend, ourselves included. We were excited to be heading to Houston on Friday afternoon for our first baby shower. But when we realized that Ike had painted a target on the City of Houston, we knew the shower was postponed. As everyone knows, Ike thrashed the Gulf Coast:

Emilia's parents, Gigi and Poppa, headed to Austin on Thursday night to escape Ike's wrath. We gladly provided them with a roof and a bed; they in turn provided us with a lobster and steak dinner in celebration of Emilia's birthday. Pretty fair trade, if you ask me.

It's still not known when much of Houston will get the electricity turned back on, so the Guerins are Austinites for the time being. Stella and Stanley have never been happier.
