Very important question

Anyone know how to change the URL on a blogspot account? Because it looks like we're going to have to expand ours from just rubyalbina ...

Emilia, Ruby, and I are proud to announce the August 2011 arrival of the newest member of our family: baby 2.0!

Emilia officially hit the end of the first trimester today, and oh what a trying trimester it has been so far. As many of you know, Emilia was diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidum during Ruby's pregnancy. Hyperemesis caused Emilia to actually lose weight during the pregnancy - a net of negative 5 pounds from her pre-preggo days to when they admitted her seven hours before giving birth (i.e., with Ruby and everything else still in her belly). We thought it was bad then. It was.

But this is worse. Emilia's been extremely sick since Christmas, at times unable to even keep down water for days at a time. She's been on IV fluids at least three times that I can recall and currently has to wear an infusion pump that provides her a constant source of medicine.  She and Ruby have been staying in Houston with Giga and Baba for the last few weeks.  They've been wonderful and, while it's cliche, we honestly don't know what we'd do without their help and support.  So we hope this explains the extremely light posting on the blog for the past two months.

Ruby is very excited at the prospect of a baby being around.  We practice with her on how to touch a baby, leading her to give the entire family gentle strokes on the face.  She also enjoys burying her face in Emilia's stomach, introducing herself as the "big sister," and trying to catch a glimpse through Emilia's bellybutton.  So far no luck, though, much to her disappointment.

I love each one of you, and that includes the tiny little baby in Emilia's tummy. Each one of you is in my prayers.

The good thing about love is that it has no limits. It never runs out.

I am looking forward to holding Ruby's little sister/brother.

MUCH love,

MM
